Nowadays looking for a home can be just downright overwhelming. Am I right? Or am I right? There is SO much information available, which is great, but also part of the problem. How are you supposed to narrow down the options of what’s out there to find the one home that’s right for you? Here’s a list of the top apps to use that will make your home search, dare we say, enjoyable...

1. HOMESNAP

Powered by the same real-time data used by licensed Realtors, this is the home search app that you want to make sure you have on your device. Snap a photo of any home to reveal home value estimates, interior photos, beds, baths, taxes, and much more. You can also search for homes by school attendance zone, and open houses by date. Now, you can even swipe through listing photos on the map and list without loading the complete details. This one is also available on desktop, so you can browse while you are at work, ah’hem, we meant on your lunch break.

2. LENDINGTREE LOAN CALCULATOR

After you find the perfect home, you will want to know what the mortgage payment will look like. No need in saving homes that are out of your price range. Narrow down your search by only looking at homes that will offer a mortgage payment you are comfortable with. You will still need to qualify with a lender to see how much you can actually qualify for, but you will at least have an idea of what’s available in the range you think you can afford.

3. SPOT CRIME

Sure you may have a checklist of must haves for your dream home. A certain number of beds, baths, design, HOA or not...But another important detail to consider is what the crime is like in that area. The neighborhood may seem great on the surface, but what if there is a hight rate of car break ins? Will it still make the cut? With this app you can get real time crime information and crime alerts for most areas.

A free, private social network for your neighborhood. This is a great way to hear what is going on in a local community. Select your neighborhood, and categories you are interested in. You’ll find out if there is any suspicious behavior, as well as community groups available, neighborhood meetups, new restaurant recommendations, or even local home service small businesses and independent vendors.

5. YELP

You likely already have this app, but it’s a great tool to find food and services that are available near you. You can read real customer reviews, and now you can even add your name to a waitlist at participating restaurants without even picking up the phone!

6. THE HOMESTYLER APP

Want to see how furniture and decor products look in your home before you buy them? This is the app for you! Just take a photo of your space to transform your mobile device into a virtual fitting room. Try out wall colors, decor items and furniture. Get interior design tips from a community of users. Caution: may be addicting.

7. HOUZZ

This is a great app if you are building, remodeling, or decorating your home. Browse more than 18 million high-resolution photos of home interiors and exteriors. You can also find, view and buy products for your home!

8. COLORSNAP

Instantly “try on” any Sherwin-Williams color on your own walls, in real time. You can also take a photo and color match to get the perfect shade for your new room. If you are trying to plan a whole, room, you can also create palette to work from.

9. EVERNOTE

Are you now sitting here wondering how you are going to keep all this information straight? Don’t worry, there’s an app for that! Evernote is an online note taking tool, You can create notebooks, and save as many notes as your heart desires. Add screenshots, share notes, and more.
