Looking for something to keep you buys as you spend all this mandated time in your home? (thanks coronavirus) Take a look around…Do you have copper items in your home that look tired and cloudy? You can bring them back to life with one simple ingredient - ketchup!

Yes, you read that correctly. Ketchup will clean your copper!

It really is that simple. So, if you have some ketchup on hand that you are willing to share you can bring the shine back to the copper found on your pans, jewelry, hardware and more. Simply spread a layer of ketchup over the copper and let it work for about 10 minutes. When your time is up, you can take a soft cloth and rub it all over the item to polish it back to life. Once complete, you can rinse well with warm water to remove all of the ketchup and dry. If the tarnish is especially heavy, you can sprinkle a thick layer of salt over the ketchup before you begin to polish. The mild abrasive action fo salt will help break through the tougher tarnish.

But wait, there’s more…

You can use ketchup on more than just copper! I know, we were shocked when we learned of this too. Ketchup can also be used to shine brass, and silverware. Some people claim ketchup is even more effective if you mix it with Worcestershire sauce. House Cleaning Central has a few different versions you can use to clean items around the house.
