Head on out to West Friendship for the last weekend of the Howard County Fair where you can check out animals, agricultural displays, entertainment, rides and amusements, food and contests.

CHRYSALIS KIDS: BEAT BUGS A MUSICAL ADVENTURE

Drama Learning Center's TYA program brings its second production to Chrysalis Kids! Inspired by music made famous by The Beatles, Beat Bugs: A Musical Adventure hits the stage. Meet the Beat Bugs – five insect pals who explore the world and pick up life lessons along the way in this new musical, based on the Netflix animated series that incorporates songs of that famous band. Walter, Buzz, Jay, Crick, and Kumi embark on a mission to save Strawberry Fields from being taken over by a stink bug with other plans for it. Some of the songs from the iconic catalog that appear in the show include “All You Need Is Love,” “Come Together,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” and “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Gates open at 4:30 p.m. for playtime with Imagination Playground, and the performance starts at 5:00 p.m. Snacks will be available for sale, but feel free to bring a picnic (no glass or alcohol).

PUBLIC STAR PARTY

Come enjoy the night sky through telescopes set up by The Howard Astronomical League (HAL). RIVER ROMP

Come celebrate summer by cooling off at the nature center with activities down at the Middle Patuxent River! By popular demand, we've added weekday sessions in addition to our weekend offerings. Bring your own non-perishable picnic, and join a Robinson Naturalist at the river for lunch and fun, family-friendly river games. Search the stream for big and small animals! Make boats and race them downstream! Come dressed to get wet. We wade in the river and recommend closed-toed water shoes. Participants must check-in for program at front desk. Participation is limited to 25 people per program. Online registration not available; please call 410-313-0400 to register.

WILLARD & WOOD MAGIC CABARET AT FOOD PLENTY

Willard & Wood Magic Cabaret is a comedic afternoon of amazement, featuring rare impossibilities, unscripted moments, and special guest performers!

Following the success of “An Evening of Impossibilities” in downtown Baltimore, Willard & Wood have agreed to pull back the curtain and introduce guests to their numerous astonishments-in-progress and favorite colleagues for an incredible afternoon of magic as we transform our Porch Room at Food Plenty.

The cabaret atmosphere allows guests to blend delicious food and top notch drinks with amazing magic and hilarious comedy. Every performance features new impossibilities along with favorites of Willard and Peter Wood. Plus, they’re regularly joined by fellow magicians and mystery performers from across the region, ensuring that no two “Magic Cabaret” shows are the same!

Our market supports local businesses and the communities they serve. Weekly donations from our market are made to the Howard County Food Bank.

HOWARD + MONTGOMERY COUNTY BREWERY TOUR

Head over to the Bin for outdoor movie night. This week’s movie is The Rock. The parking lot closes 1.5 hours before showtime. Chair set up is allowed after that point. The Wine Bin offers beer and wine tastings before the movie. There is popcorn available for a donation to Howard County’s Voices for Children.

TASTE OF LINGANORE

Presented by Linganore Winecellars & Red Shedman Farm Brewery, this event promises something for everyone, and is guaranteed to indulge your inner foodie. The August 11th event will showcase some of the area’s favorite restauranteurs and caterers, featuring samplings of small plates made with Linganore Wines. Stroll the grounds to shop unique local vendors while enjoying this foodie paradise, paired with great wines and craft beers. Admission includes a souvenir glass for wine and beer tastings throughout the event.

BIKING FOR BEER

We are BIKING FOR BEER! Grab your bicycle and join us for a ride. Every Wednesday, WHEELS DOWN at 6:30pm, we will meet in the Clarksville Commons parking lot and ride a portion of the ‘Clarksville to Ft Meade’ route (approx 11 miles, but can be modified based on personal preference). Afterwards, hang out with your fellow riders at Food Plenty and enjoy your first Manor Hill draught FREE. Check Food Pantry social media for weather updated. All experience levels are welcome!

YAPPY HOUR

The Bin hosts Yappy hour in the parking lot adjacent to our building.  Bring your well-behaved leashed dog or come without a dog and enjoy everyone else’s dog.  Donations and a portion of our sales benefit dog charities. Live Music, Popcorn and a Free Beer and Wine tasting. Your dog is welcome inside The Bin as well.  This is a free family friendly event. Check the Wine Bin's Facebook page for an update if the weather is questionable.

MERRIWEATHER MOVIE NIGHTS: WOODSTOCK

Celebrate the 50th anniversay of Woodstock with a screening of the original documentary at Merriweather Post Pavilion! The iconic festival started as "3 days of Peace and Music" and became an American cultural touchstone. Celebrate the festival's legacy with us at one of America's finest concert venues.

The film will be screened on the lawn only, so grab a blanket and friends and join the fun! (In the event of rain, the film will be screened inside the pavilion.) Gates will open at 6 pm and the show will start promptly at 7 pm. The film is just over three and a half hours long. Merriweather Post Pavilion concession stands will be open serving food and beverages at community pricing levels. Parking: General parking will be available in Merriweather Lots 2 and 4 (see map), and ADA parking is avaiable immediately adjacent to the West Box Office and in Lot 1. http://merriweathermusic.com/parking/
