KIDS NIGHT IN AT THE MUSEUM

Need a kid-free date night? We have a fun solution for you! Drop your children off with us at the Baltimore and Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum and enjoy a night out on Main Street in Ellicott City. Participants will have a blast from the past doing historic crafts and explore the hidden history of the station. Pack a nut-free meal, snack, and reusable water bottle. SCOPE OUT THE NIGHT SKY

March 15 | 6:30-9:30pm | $30/family (up to 5 members) | children ages 8 and up
Robinson Nature Center and the Howard Astronomical League present this exciting, family-focused astronomy event with support from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific! Enjoy a planetarium program, build your very own Galileoscope (a functional telescope for night sky viewing), hold a meteorite, observe the surface of the moon and other space objects on a “Magic Planet,” and view celestial objects in the sky using various telescopes with the help of knowledgeable guides. Each family takes home one Galileoscope. All participants receive a star map. Click here to purchase tickets online.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY FAMILY FESTIVAL

Enjoy live bag pipe music. Art classes & crafts, face painting, and treats! Join in a Shamrock Scavenger Hunt with Prizes ($5 per Family, cash only on the day of the event). 100% of the Scavenger Hunt proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

MTH MARKETPLACE

Mt. Hebron High School’s Viking Backers Booster Club is hosting a new community arts and craft festival called “MTH Marketplace” on Saturday, March 16, 2019 (snow dated March 23) at Mt. Hebron High School, 9440 Rt. 99, Ellicott City, MD 21042, from 10am to 4pm. 70+ vendors in the lobby, cafeteria, gym, and common areas. MTH Marketplace admission and parking are FREE and open to the public. Concessions, entertainment, raffles and a silent auction will also be available. Mark your calendars to come see the talent in our community! 100% of the proceeds benefit student activities, arts and athletics at Mt. Hebron High School. The Viking Backers Booster club is a 503(c) non-profit, all volunteer parent organization.

FAIRY & GNOME TEA PARTY

March 17 | 11am-1pm; 2-4pm | $27 per person | children ages 3 and up
Join our fairy and gnome tea party! Learn about the plants and animals in the woodland fairies’ kingdom. Your little one dons a pair of fairy wings or a gnome hat and embarks on a search for fairies and gnomes through the nature center. Then, meet, sing and play with a fairy and gnome from Drama Learning Center! Afterwards, sit and savor a full tea service by Sweet Simplici-Tea tea room. Tea service includes tea, lemonade and delightful treats just right for little fingers. Fee includes program, materials, tea service, and gratuity. WINE CLASS: WHAT IS A BLEND?

Blends are all the rage now whether white, rose or red. Each grape variety that’s added to a wine blend contributes a special attribute, which combines to create a perfectly well-rounded, rich and smooth tasting wine. Wines from Bordeaux and Champagne are world-renowned for their exceptional wine blends. In this class we will learn about the blending process and taste many of the classic blends from all over the world.

Bourbon purists will tell you that adding even a drop of water will ruin the whiskey’s flavor, but that’s just one of the many myths surrounding the spirit. In fact, there are an array of delicious classic and modern cocktails that call for bourbon. We have all heard of the manhattan and the old fashioned, sop this class is designed to show Bourbons range as a perfect cocktail companion. Each class features at least 3 craft cocktails built around a unique spirit or liquor. Learn tips and techniques along with a little history: this is a great way to start building a craft spirit bar! AFTERNOON ENGLISH TEA

Enjoy a traditional English Afternoon Tea in the stately Belmont Manor, built in 1738. Your taste buds will be tempted with a bottomless pot of tea, a Manor scone served with clotted cream and jam, tea savories and a delectable assortment of desserts. After “Taking tea,” we invite you on a self-guided tour of the Manor. Pre-registration is required. $35 is due upon registration. Seating is communal. In this 1.5 hour class, you will hand paint a design on a wine glass guided by an instructor from Le Painted Grape. All painting supplies and wine glass included. March 21 (Recurring 1st and 3rd Thursdays Monthly) | 6:30-8pm | free | ages 21 and over
Join this monthly running meet up at Hysteria Brewing Company in partnership with Charm City Run’s Columbia store every 3rd Thursday. Meet at Charm City Run (Columbia) store and head out for 3-5 miles at your own pace. The path varies slightly each month, but always ends at Hysteria Brewing Company where the first beer is on the house. Food trucks are on hand with food for purchase.
