Don’t you just LOVE the smell of a lemon? To me, it’s so fresh, clean, and inviting. Lemons are usually only thought of for flavoring water or food. But did you know that there are a bunch of ways to use lemons around the home? Check out a few of the ways this versatile fruit:

Freshen the Garbage Disposal
Toss in the citrus peels, or if you have a wedge you’ve squeezed out. Turn on the warm water. Then, let the garbage disposal run until all the peels are ground. This can be repeated weekly.

Clean Microwave
Squeeze half a lemon into a bowl of warm water. Then microwave for 5 minutes (increase time if needed) to allow for the steam from the water to condense on the ceiling and walls of microwave. When enough water has condensed, use a sponge to wipe down the insides.

Counter Cleaner
For this one, you will need: Cup of lemon peels; white vinegar; and ½ cup water. Add your peels to a spray bottle or jar. Then, add enough vinegar to cover the peels. Nex, add the water. For best results, let the mixture sit for a week before using it.

Clean Silverware
Just pour a little lemon juice onto the tarnished pieces of silver and then polish that piece with a cloth.

Clean Grout
You will need: 2 tbsp lemon juice; ¼ cup vinegar; and ¼ cup water. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Using an old toothbrush, dip it into the mixture and scrub the grout lines.

Cut the chemicals, and let Mother Nature help keep your home sparkling clean and smelling oh so fresh! Enjoy!
